0:29 Charlene Lincoln: Welcome back to The Fertility Hour. Today, I’m just so excited and I’m already emotional and I didn’t know it. You know when you don’t expect to get emotional and you see – Oh my gosh! I don’t want to start crying here. I’m really emotional about this and I will tell you why in a second. I have a very, very inspirational, amazing woman on here and I invited her on and her team initially said that she was a little bit overwhelmed with interview requests because she’s doing a lot of things right now. And I said, well, I don’t know, there’s something inside me that feels like that she will do this and I need to make my argument a little bit stronger because there are so many people in the world that are just heartbroken and devastated about these fertility issues that we’re dealing with. So I did send out another message and Natalie wrote back and she said, “Well, I have to do it,” because she’s just that type of person. So today we have Natalie Ledwell and I’ll tell you a little bit about her.

Oh my gosh. Thank you. Welcome, Natalie.
Natalie Ledwell: Thanks, Charlene. Thank you so much for persisting on having me come and speak to you today.
3:04 CL: Anyways, the reason I feel so emotional is that I think it was 2006 or 2007, I had a business coach and he told me about Mind Movies. Everyone at that time was watching the movie “The Secret” and there was the thing about the vision boards. Honestly, I was so inspired by the movie “The Secret” but I never got around to do a vision board. I thought it was the coolest idea but I had so many thoughts and dreams and ideas, it just was hard to cut magazines and try to figure this thing out on a board. So he introduced me to Mind Movies and we’ll talk a little bit more about what that is. I started making my Mind Movies and at the time I was in a relationship that I felt like was sort of going nowhere. I was frustrated. I did deep inside want to get married, I did want to have a child. I wasn’t the type of person who envisioned being a bride my whole life but I wanted to have an intimate ceremony on the beach and have a wonderful relationship. And all these things that, honestly, they seemed so unattainable at the time. There were so many obstacles. It was during the real estate crisis, there was financial messes to clean up. I started making the Mind Movies and this is kind of echoing what I guess so many other people say. Pretty much everything that really meant something to me other than the materialistic things. The things that really meant something to me: marrying the love of my life on a beach in Maui, having a beautiful daughter at the age of 42; even the house I lived, windows looking out to nature which I thought was an impossibility; having a job that inspires people and shows them what’s possible – all that came true. I watch Mind Movies now and I’m like, all of that transpired and I know you hear that all the time. That’s why I got emotional because I need to share this with people. It’s an amazing tool. You know it.
NL: Well, I still make mind movies myself. I make at least 4 or 5 mind movies a year, depending on what I’m focusing on. I still use them myself and every year I need to keep making new ones because I’m already creating what I’ve got in the old ones.
5:31 CL: For those who are saying “Well, what the heck is a mind movie?” can you give like an elevator pitch? What is this mind movie that we’re talking about?
NL: Yeah. So a mind movie is like a vision board in the fact that it’s a visualization tool. So it helps you to make it easier for you to put yourself in this reality that you want to create for yourself. It makes it easier for you to see that in your mind and to feel what it’s like to already be there. It’s one of the powerful parts of a visualization, is actually feeling the emotions of already being in that moment as if it’s already happening right now. So rather than just being like a board that’s up on the wall with the front as in magazines, this is like an organic, dynamic little video that you create that is a combination of affirmations so it’s the right language that we want to use around the future we want to create, written in present tense like it’s already happening. Photos or video clips that actually enhance those affirmations and then of course the secret sauce is the music. So if you choose the right song that really blows your hair back, that really makes your heart sing, it helps you to easily elevate your emotion so that you can really be an emotional match to this reality that you want to create. So it’s an exceptionally powerful tool and the cool thing about it unlike a vision board is you can download it to your devices, your phones or whatever and carry them around with you so that you’ve always got the little shot of inspiration when you need it.
7:03 CL: And you can tweak it, right, because you make a mind movie and then some things manifest or some things go that actually I want to manifest something else and so very easily. You guys have made it so easy because I remember it used to be the software, it was like on the disk and now it’s literally in a few minutes you can make a mind movie.
NL: When we got started, we had the idea of creating these movies. So when we got started what our program was or what our product was, was just the instructions on how to do it with somebody else’s software. Download this free software, use PowerPoint, this is where you get the photos from. So it was a little cumbersome but as soon as we had some success, straight away we went, “Right, we need to design our own software to make it super easy.” So when you go into the software now, it’s like there’s a whole library of photos and affirmations, it’s already in there. So if you can drag and drop then you can very easily make a mind movie.
8:03 CL: Absolutely. Thanks for those changes because right, it was a little bit cumbersome even though I did it back in the day. It’s too easy now. Now I was watching a video of you on your website and you said you were able to recreate your life into the life of your dreams. What was that process like and how did that lead to the creation of mind movies? What were you using back then before you created this?
NL: So again, our whole journey started around The Secret as well. I remember just before I saw The Secret I had this monumental moment of frustration and I’m looking at all my bills, I’m looking at my bank balance and I’m like, “This is ridiculous.” My husband at the time, the two of us, we had full businesses we were running at the same time and we couldn’t still make ends meet. I’ve been a student of personal development from the age of 21 so I knew what to do and I’m like, “Why is this not working?” Then a couple of weeks after that, a friend said, “You’ve got to watch this movie.” So, I ordered it and watched it. It was a Sunday afternoon, Glen and I sitting there watching this movie and we’re both just looking at each other and going, “You’ve got to be kidding me. This is what we’re missing.” And for me, the biggest takeaway from that is that I didn’t need to know the whole plan. I just needed to know where I wanted to end up and then just know what the next step was going to be rather than trying to figure the whole thing out. Not my job anyway. And with Glen, his biggest takeaway is that adding that emotional part to your visualization, making sure you have the feeling of what it’s like to be there.
Because our emotion is frequency, it’s vibration. The more often we can feel that emotion and send that frequency out into the universe, then we become the magnet. Whatever we need to be able to make that happen then gets attracted back to us rather than us having to go out there and fight and struggle to get what it is that we want. So that’s what makes it easier.
Not long after we saw The Secret, a friend came to us and showed us this movie that he created. I’m like, “Whoa! That’s exactly what we need.” Then he came to us and he said, “I’ve got this idea of setting up a website.” I was like, “Well…” So Glen couldn’t turn on a computer and I hadn’t even heard of YouTube and this is 2007. I didn’t even know what that was. I didn’t know what a social network was. I spent no time on the internet. From that point, we created a little video, we put it on YouTube and we started getting all these people sending in emails, going, “This is changing my life.” So we kind of figured out, “okay, we’ve got to get good at this internet thing. How do you do this?”
Then we realized you could buy programs that taught you how to do it. So we purchased a program and the guy who was running the program decided to do a live event in April 2008 in San Diego like, right, we’ve got to go this event and we got to try somehow and get this guy to mentor us because he’s such a genius and we’ve learned so much just from his one little program. So we got to this event, we decided to spend six months in California, we got accepted into his mastermind group and we spent six months just figuring it out and building our pages and doing all that kind of thing. Of course there’s a lot to this story but basically when we finally had our launch, it was September 2008 which was really the height of the whole economic crisis. I had no idea. We just had 14-hour days working in our bedrooms trying to launch Mind Movies to the world.
So it could have gone either way and thank God we didn’t know what was going on economically because we had $120,000 that we had accumulated on credit cards, just getting off the ground. In the end we ended up doing a $700,000 week. So during September 2008 which was just insane but it was just the perfect storm, everyone’s losing their homes and losing their jobs. They’re recalibrating and going, “Well, what is my life going to look like now because I’ve lost all of this, what I thought was important. How am I going to reset?” And something like a mind movie which was a really small price, it was only $97, was just the right thing for them to be able to sit down and go, “Okay, well, how am I going to move forward from here?” So it’s kind of what put us on the map. But we’ve actually reached 4.2 million people now.
12:25 CL: Oh my gosh! You doubled since you wrote that. That’s incredible. And that brought up during a financial crisis out of all the chaotic things that were happening, we had this refinance and at the time refinance was rather impossible. I made a mind movie about that and that the refinance went smoothly and it did. I was just amazed because there were so many obstacles, there were just so many challenges during that time.
Why are mind movies so effective in helping manifest their dreams? But you kind of answered that. It’s the emotions, right?
NL: Yes, and I think what one of the most powerful parts of a mind movie is actually making it because to make it, you have to get really clear about what you want. When I coach people and go, okay, look, when you’re creating your mind movie, yes you want to be using affirmations in present tense. Yes, you want to make sure that you’re avoiding words like debt or fertility problems or fertility issues or things like that. The things that you don’t want to focus on, you want to make sure those words are completely eliminated from the vocabulary. The thing is, you’re writing down what it is that you want, affirmations to describe what you want whether it’s a healthy pregnancy, a beautiful family or whatever it is that you’re focusing on, but then you also want to describe what life is like now that you have that. Because these are the affirmations that really help to put you in that future. So when we’re talking about people that are listening to the show, we want to be focusing on like really easy conception and talk about the healthy pregnancy and all the amazing things there are being pregnant, but then also talking about how easy the birth is going to be and then all the things that you’re doing with your child or with your children when they’re born and seeing all of that. Because your job really is to get clear about that future. You want to see it, you want to taste it, you want to know that it’s happening and then everything falls into place.
You also want to talk about why, like why do you want to create this, any kind of actions that you need to take. Maybe there are certain vitamins or different changes to your daily practice that you want to be implementing to create like an easier conception. Then think about how you need to change the way you think because I know that when it comes to wanting to fall pregnant in your 40s, it’s not just our programming and our limiting beliefs we need to overcome but it’s culture in general. I don’t have children but I know I’ve seen from friends who are in that age, we’re talking about a geriatric pregnancy like, “Really?” Come on, a pregnancy is a pregnancy. But overcoming all of this other prejudice and cultural things as well, so focusing on this is how I’m thinking, these are my beliefs, this is how I’m changing who I am to become this beautiful mother or this beautiful parent. And adding all of those talks of affirmations into a mind movie like this, you’re really comprehensively describing this incredible family that you’re creating. It’s an incredible life that you’re creating. And you’re covering all affects so it makes it easier for you to be able to see and believe it because when you believe it’s going to happen and you have this expectation that it’s happening no matter what, that energy, remember we’re talking about how important this frequency is that we’re emitting out to the universe, that is the most important kind of a frequency that we want to be emitting.
16:25 CL: Those are incredible tips and a couple of things came to mind. When I was trying to get pregnant, quickly I knew, “oh my gosh, I need to make a mind movie.” As much self-development stuff I’ve done over the years, I really can get into a negative spiral. You have to really overtake or do something stronger to negate those voices. And how often are you recommending people watch this? Say, someone has been trying to conceive for over a year and they have like you said the doctors and everyone else kind of giving them negative news which is pretty predominant, pretty evasive when you’re older and trying to get pregnant. Do you recommend we watch it a couple of times a day? What’s the recommendation?
NL: I think at least morning and night is preferable. Because whatever we watch and putting into our minds the last 10 minutes before we go to sleep is what our subconscious mind is mulling over all evening. You know that if you binge-watch a series, that’s what you’re dreaming about all night. So let’s put something positive in there, let’s put something that you want to be creating in there. So that’s helping your mind to really focus on this reality. It also is making sure that when you wake in the morning, if there’s some action you need to take the next day and you weren’t sure how you’re going to do that, more often than not you’ll find that the solution will just pop into your head in the mornings. As we go to sleep and as we wake up in the morning, we are in what we call theta brainwave activity. Now, while we’re in theta, we are more connected to the greater consciousness or to our intuition. So it’s easier for us to see the solutions, it will come up with these amazing ideas that maybe we wouldn’t have before.
First thing in the morning, it’s a great way to start the day. Because especially if you’ve got certain actions or habits that you’re changing, you’re reminding yourself first thing in the morning, you’re like, “Yup, today this is what I’m doing” and it kind of keeps you motivated. And I also recommend that before you’re doing any kind of activity that’s involved with falling pregnant, like before you’re going to have sexy times with your husband or before you’re going to the doctor or anything like that, when you’re watching your mind movie, what happens is that you’re really putting yourself into vibrational match of being pregnant. So you’re already there, which is going to really help to make the activities that you’re doing to conceive even more effective.
19:17 CL: Absolutely. I was thinking of a good mind movie. So I’ve attracted the perfect doctor who supports me or the perfect team of specialists that support me and my goals. It’s endless but those are the things that I definitely put. With glowing pregnant woman and just, yeah, how you want the pregnancy to go, how you want the birth to go, how you feel as a mother, how you are as a couple together, how your relationship grows stronger and stronger each day as you’re a parent. It’s amazing. For me, it really manifested all of that. It just blows me away. Last night knowing that I was going to interview you today, I just went through some of my mind movies. It’s like oh my gosh, it’s just incredible. Have you always thought of yourself as an inspirational person or was that a dream of yours that “Oh, I’m going to inspire millions one day”?
NL: I always knew that I was different. I grew up in a country town in Australia and I’m 1 of 8 kids, so from a very big family.
20:33 CL: No fertility issues there.
NL: Oh no, none at all. The thing is, I was always like the alien in the family. I always thought differently. My mom’s always, “You always are the center of attention! You always need to be in the limelight.” I’m like, “Yeah, what’s wrong with that?” It’s pretty normal to me. So I knew I was always destined for something outside the box. And I never thought like everybody else. My favorite two words were “why not?” Like, why can’t we do that? I remember even at school I would be challenging all the rules that they had and different things like that. So I always had that in me.
Even when we started Mind Movies, it’s so interesting and this is what I know to be true and for anyone that’s creating a mind movie around the family that they want to create, we come up with what we believe is going to be this amazing future. When we would get particularly stressed and leading up to the launch, Glen and Ryan and I, we’d leave our apartment in San Diego, we go and get a cup of coffee, we go down to the dog beach because we left our two dogs in Australia so we’d see all these happy dogs frolicking on the beach and it would make us feel happy. So we’re raising our vibration, we’re sort of getting into that happier place. Then from that place, we’d play this game where would just sit down and have this conversation as if the launch was over, it was a massive success and we’re talking about the amazing restaurants that we’re eating at and we’re talking about all the respect from our peers and how we’re taking our families on holidays. So we were talking as if it was already happening and by doing that we’re sort of putting ourselves in that future and it’s not just in our mind but like everything with us. I was just thinking before about, like I said, one of the most powerful parts of the mind is creating it. Well imagine creating this as a couple together and then you’re in these conversations and have them in present tense. “What school is our child going to?” “Where will we be living? Are we still living in here or we’ll be having to move to wherever?” And you’re already getting excited about this incredible future that’s coming. That in itself helps to fasten up the manifestation process. So that’s like a keen little tip that you can use.
Then I look at all the things that we talked about that we were creating with Mind Movies and the success. And the life that I get to live is just so much more than that. Like, I couldn’t in a million years have dreamed up of this particular life that I get to live. Like all those people in The Secret, they’re all my friends. I’m in organizations with them. I holiday with them. I get to work with kids in Columbia and in Liberia. It just gets better and better and better. So when we’re in this manifestation process, like I said, our job is to get clear about where we’re ending up and then making sure that we just move along in that we don’t want to be attached to exactly how it’s going to show up. Like we want a healthy child, don’t get too attached whether it’s a male or a female. Just go looking out “I want a healthy child and this is our family and these are the things that we’re doing together.” The more that you’re in that, you’ll be so incredibly surprised at the amazing and delicious and things that are way better than you can ever thought of that actually get to show up for you.
24:15 CL: Absolutely. I did say I wanted a girl which in reality of course you just want a healthy baby. The picture, I just chose a little girl that I thought looked sweet and cute, but my daughter looks so much like her. I was kind of surprised when I saw that. Do you believe there’s a limit to what an individual can achieve? I guess another way to say it is, do you think that the dreams, they should be realistic and kind of don’t go too big with something to not be disappointed type of thing?
NL: I don’t believe there’s a limit. But I have way too much evidence in my own life to know otherwise. A prime example of this is a couple of years ago, and it’s kind of a long story which I’m going to cut short, but I was approached by a university in Columbia to create a curriculum for a school about all the principles that I teach about self-esteem and setting goals. I created these Mind Movies for Kids program and they wanted 12 lessons for 8- to 12-year-olds and homework for the parents. I’m like, “Yes, no problem.” And I hang up the phone and I start to freak out because I’m like, “okay, I left school when I was 15 and I don’t have children. I am so not capable of doing this. Why did I say yes? I do not know how to do this.” But I just went into my practice, what I do, and I bite off more than I can chew. I just sit down in a visualization and I just put myself in a classroom in Columbia. For the full first week, I couldn’t do that visualization and not cry. Because I’m seeing the kids and they’re so happy and the teacher is crying telling me how much of a difference it’s made in their life and talking to the parents. I can see the difference that this program is making.
When I come out of that, so I’m in the vibration of it already happening, I’m like, “Okay, what’s my next step? What do I do?” I’m like, “Right. Do I know a teacher?” So I had one goal for this teacher and I reached out to her and said is there a universal way that lessens the light out so at least I look like I know what I’m doing and she goes, “Yes.” So she sent me that. So I figured out what the lessons were and I call my copywriter because I’m like, “I’ll do it. I got one week to get this done. Can you just flesh it out with words then I can tweak your words? It’s going to be a faster process.” And he said, “Of course, I could do that.” He said, “But you know I have a secret weapon.” I’m like, “What’s that?” He goes, “You know my wife is a teacher and she specializes in early ed curriculum.” And I’m like, “No.” And this is what I’m talking about. When we know with every fiber of being that this could happen, then what we need shows up for us to make it happen.
Now I’m working with my girlfriend in Sydney and she’s a child psychologist and we’re doing this 12-week program that has morphed into from 5-year-olds all the way up to 18-year-olds. And it’s a global program. We’ve got pilot programs in New Zealand, Australia and the US, and it’s going to change a generation. It went from me going “I’m not worthy. Who am I to think that this is going to happen?” to “Okay, this is how it’s happening,” because you’re able to attract to you all the events and the resources and the people and opportunities that you need. So I don’t believe that there is such a thing as a goal too big. It may take a little bit more time to reach it than other things and like I said, I’ve been working on this for a couple of years but where next year, the whole program will be ready to roll out.
28:01 CL: That’s amazing.
NL: Every single minute that I spent working on it.
28:06 CL: I was reading about it. I was like, “Oh my gosh.” You’ve expanded in so many different directions. It’s sort of a trick question of course. I know that you always are kind of preaching to have huge dreams and goals and everything else.
Can you tell our audience how to find you? What’s the best way to find out about Mind Movies and everything else?
NL: If you go to MindMovies.com, it’s our main website. So we have a lot of free resources there as well. You can get access to the Inspiration Show and some free pre-made mind movies that we have there. But then also access to all the programs that we have there as well. So it’s the best resource for everything but if I was to also add, when we’re talking about visualization and I get this question a lot and I actually was answering a few questions in our USM program this morning. Because people are like, “Okay, but I can’t see it. I understand that I’m supposed to see this technicolor movie but I don’t actually get to see that. That’s not necessarily the best way to visualize and for me, what I highly recommend is that after you’ve watched the mind movie or looked at vision board or whatever that is, that when you close your eyes, rather than seeing a movie out in front of you where you’re like a character in the movie, what’s really powerful is to what we call “dimensionalize” your visualization. So you’re actually in the visualization and you’re using as many senses as you can to make it as real as possible.
So let’s say for example you’re visualizing being pregnant, having a healthy pregnancy. Not that I’ve ever been pregnant but what I would imagine, that I’d be waking up in the morning and I’m feeling a little bit of back pain, but feeling my belly and then getting up, sitting down to a really healthy breakfast that’s in alignment with the health I want to create for my baby. So I can taste the fresh eggs and you can smell the sugar-free bacon or whatever that is and the fresh juice. How I’m feeling is I’m being mobile while I’m pregnant. Then I’m going out and I can see people and I’m having these conversations and I’m shaking their hand and I’m letting them feel my belly and all these things. So you’re using as many senses as you can so that you are actually in the scene itself. By doing that, it’s so real to your subconscious mind. It really doesn’t know the difference between what you see through your eyes and what you play realistically in your mind like this. The more often you can do that, what’s happening is that we’re creating these new neural pathways in our brain with the thoughts that are in alignment with this reality. So all these other thoughts that are telling us why we can’t get pregnant and why it’s never going to happen and we’re too old and all those bad things, they start to diminish. Those neural pathways start to actually atrophy and these new stronger pathways with thoughts that are in alignment with this new feature then start to come through.
What you find is that with a lot of effort, you’re thinking positively, you’re taking actions and alignment with being in this healthy pregnancy without having to put too much effort into it. And when you have the emotions that are aligned with all of this, like I said, we become such a strong magnet to this reality that we’re creating that there’s no doubt that it will come to fruition.
31:56 CL: The way you described it is beautiful. If we went into it further, it’s affecting the neurotransmitters in the brain which cascade down to the hormonal system. So if people are going, “Well I don’t get how doing that can help me pregnant,” it’s creating changes in the physiology of your body. It’s amazing.
NL: Even like sitting in with that visualization of the sperm fertilizing the egg and seeing the multiplication of the cells and seeing a healthy womb and all of that, that helps immensely because you’re creating that. And if you’re reading books, there’s a really good book that actually came out yesterday. It’s called Becoming Supernatural. It’s by Dr. Joe Dispenza. I’ve been working with him for the last four years. So we have been using Mind Movies in his workshops. We’re doing meditations, we’re brain-mapping people. We’re measuring chakra alignment, HeartMath monitors, cortisol levels. So we’ve been gathering all this science as to why this works. There’s a whole lot of stories in there of people who have overcome different health conditions but have been able to create this optimal health body with every cell in their body and it helps you to understand how our mind really can override and control our body. When you know this and you believe this, you understand that you can create the perfect environment for a baby to be conceived in your body.
33:32 CL: That’s incredible. Going back to The Secret, that’s what was so profound about it. I think there was a man who was a burn victim or something. It’s been a long time. But there was a woman with cancer and she talked about just changing her whole thought processes to heal her body and imagining the killer cells attacking the cancer cells. But a lot of us, it’s kind of like a meditation thing where a lot of us have tried out having a meditation practice and we find, “Oh gosh, this is so extremely difficult.” Then the guided meditation helps many people. That’s where the mind movies came in for me. So having the static vision board, “Well, I need to change something or whatever, that’s not putting me in the emotional state,” that’s with the mind movies I felt like it was a little shortcut in a way. Like you said, it makes you pretty crystal clear on what you really want. Because there’s so many wants and desires as a human being, but really what the heart wants. Not the “Oh, I want this kind of car,” which I guess you could make the mind movie for that. But the things that really end up at the end of the day, that’s the things that my heart really wants. So anyways, it’s just incredible.
We talked about the type of mind movie you would make if you’re trying to get pregnant. I think those were such beautiful points. I did it like my whole family is so overjoyed at the news and I had the picture of the ultrasound, me and my husband just hugging each other, we’re so ecstatically happy. Another crazy thing is I put a house in there and I forgot. I just pulled this house up and then February of this year my husband came home. He said, “I found the perfect house.” We live in a really crazy housing market and I said, “Okay.” I watched the mind movie again. The houses don’t look side-by-side similar except the one thing (and this is kind of the most important thing), the front of the house is just pure windows looking out to nature and never in my wildest dreams, I just never thought. We were looking at all these tiny little homes in this crazy housing market packed in with all these other homes in the neighborhood. We’re on a half an acre, we look out to open land, a wall full of windows, and I was like, that’s pretty much the house I put in those mind movies a couple of years ago.
NL: I think too it’s all about, like I said, not getting too specific. When you’re thinking about the home that you’re going to be living in with the family that you’re creating, rather than going it has to be on this street, facing north with the sunlight away, think about the qualities or the attributes of the home that you want to be in. If you want something where your family is going to be comfortable, where there’s enough space for the kids to have their toys in one area and for you to have the mancave and for the ladies to have like a beautiful kitchen. So think of all like the macro things, I call it. So think of the major things that you want and how you’re going to feel inside the house rather than it has to be this specific house or it has to be here. Because like we said, when you’re not too married like we can’t be too married to how it’s going to show up, we can’t be too married to what it’s going to look like when it turns up. Because when we do that, we’re really shining ourselves off to some incredible and amazing different ways that it can show up.
So we think we know best for what we want based on what we’ve experienced in life so far. But the universe or the higher self has a much better idea of what’s actually possible for us and what we can create. So when we can sort of relax into, “well look, this is what I want, these are the main things that I want for my home, so surprise me. Bring in something that’s going to be like that. Especially if you’re looking for a partner or anything like that, sometimes they’ll show up and they go “Wow! I didn’t know I actually wanted this as well. You know, yes, I wanted these things but this was the bonus plan or this was something that far exceeded my expectations.” Which is how all the most amazing things in my life have shown up.
Honestly, before we had Mind Movies we had four businesses. One of them was a network marketing business. I was convinced this business, this was going to be our ticket. This is going to get us the money that we wanted and the lifestyle that we wanted. I had written out all these affirmations about this particular business. I remember a year later after we got back from our six-month stint in the US, I was going through some papers and I come across this list of affirmations and I’m looking at it, and I’m just like, “Wow!” Because Mind Movies had fulfilled every single one of those affirmations.
Now if someone had the day before Ryan approached us with the idea of setting up the website said, “Oh yeah, you’ll get all of that and more but you’re going to do it through the internet,” I would have laughed at them. Because I’m like, “I don’t know anything about the internet, what are you talking about? That makes no sense to me.” So sometimes it shows up in a much more delicious and a much better way than we actually think.
That brings up another thing I wanted to add as well. It’s impossible to be thinking positively and not have a negative thought ever or not have moments where you’re feeling disappointed. Of course that’s going to happen. That’s okay. That’s normal and it’s part of being human and that’s fine. But our choice is, how long do we want to stay there? So for us to be able to shift out of that, feel the feelings, move through it and then go, okay, we’re obviously suffocated and then sort of move out of that. To do that, obviously watching a mind movie helps you get back on track back into that vibration but also being really grateful for what we already have.
Sometimes I know that when we’re working towards a large goal that’s taking a bit of time, it can be very disheartening at times because you’re like, “Ugh! I just want this thing to happen.” I’m one of the most impatient people in the world. But I have to remember to, number one, be grateful and have a gratitude practice. What I do is my trigger in the morning is when I take my puppy out for a walk, I go through my great force. I used to do a gratitude journal and I’m so not doing that at the moment, but I do recommend a gratitude journal. But in the journal, don’t just write down five things that you’re grateful for. Write down a couple of things in advance that you’re grateful for. So you’re grateful for the beautiful family that you’re creating. You’re grateful for these future events. By doing that, you’re actually wrapping that future event in these vibrations of belief and expectation which is really important.
The other thing I also recommend is keeping an evidence journal. An evidence journal is when you’re moving towards your goal and something comes up for you like you overhear two women in the coffeeshop speaking about fertility and they give you the recommendation for an amazing doctor, that’s evidence that the universe has got your back and is actually giving you what you need to make things happen. You didn’t create that event but you happen to be in the right place at the right time and you happen to hear the conversation. So these are the kind of things that I keep as evidence because sometimes when I’m frustrated that it’s not happening as fast as I want it to, I’ll go to the evidence journal, I’ll look and there are too many things. I’ve got too much evidence here to say that this is not going to happen. I know that this is coming to fruition. And really celebrate the wins even if it’s a small increment towards where you want to end up. Just celebrate all of those wins. Acknowledge them. Acknowledge that you still are moving forward and all these little tiny activities are what are putting us in what I call a happy place, keeping my vibration high, keeping me in this happy place. And the more that we can stay in this higher vibration, the easier it is for things that we need to be attracted to us.
42:23 CL: I love that. Those are such great tips. I think that any and every successful person I’ve ever come across always talks about the gratitude. So it must be true, yes, because that is just kind of a common denominator of everyone who is feeling like they live very fulfilled, big lives to make sure that you have an attitude of gratitude. Sometimes it is challenging but that’s really just the time to break open that journal and you will really find a lot to be grateful for. Especially just looking at the state of the world and you go, “Oh my gosh, I am safe. I have this wonderful body and I can walk and see and I have this fresh air to breathe.” It’s just an endless list of things that we all have to be grateful for.
NL: Even if things don’t go our way like often there’s things that show up and you’re just like, “Yeah, I did not plan for this or this is not what I wanted,” we can get upset about it which is okay. But the other thing that I really recommend is as long as we can put a positive meaning to this event and it could be a setback, but if we can put a positive meaning to it, what happens is we change our energy around that as well. See, our goal is to try and stay in the vibration of healthy pregnancy or in the vibration of conception. So the more often we can do that and even if something happens like “ugh, it didn’t happen this time,” that’s okay because maybe it wasn’t the right time or maybe we didn’t have this in order. And it’s fine because this is happening on the next time. Or making sure that you’re keeping that positive spin to everything that’s popping up that is a bit of a challenge. Even with challenges, there’s always an opportunity to figure out, okay, do I need to course correct? Evaluate where you’re at. Are the actions that I’m taking really the right actions? Is there another angle that I can come at this with? Is there another way around this? Should I be researching other options? Just those kind of things always pop up because they’re an opportunity for you to kind of take stock and go, okay, am I on the right track and do I need to course correct?
